Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Bottoms Up! is a free browser game at bottomsup.tech, run by Naman Khurpia. This policy explains what the game collects, why, and the choices you have. There are no accounts, no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The name you type, which doesn't have to be your real name | You, when you join a game | To show it to your crew and on leaderboards, and to see who has played |
| Race results: level, crew names, time, points, falls and date | Your races | Leaderboards and Top races |
| Approximate location: city, region and country | Looked up from your IP address | To understand where players are |
| Device type, browser and operating system | Your browser's user agent | To see what the game needs to run well on |
| The website that linked you here, without the page address | Your browser's referrer | To see how people find the game |
| Visit activity: when you visited, pages opened and time on site | Your visit | To understand how much the game is played |
| Play activity: rooms joined, races started and finished, and how often your raft falls | Your play | To see how people play and which levels are too hard |
| A visitor code: a scrambled value made from your IP address and browser details | Calculated on our server | To count you once and group your visit's activity |
Together, this information can show that someone using a particular name visited from a particular city on a particular device. Only the site owner can see that combined view.
Your IP address
Your IP address reaches our server whenever you connect, as with any website. We use it to find your approximate location and create your visitor code, and we don't save the address itself in our game database. The lookup runs on our own server using a downloaded database, so your address isn't sent to a location service. The visitor code stays the same for as long as your IP address and browser details do, so it can recognize a returning visit.
What we don't collect
- Your real name or email address, unless you choose to type or send them
- Your exact GPS location, contacts or social media accounts
- Payment details
- Your microphone or camera
We don't use browser fingerprinting beyond the visitor code described above.
Cookies and browser storage
We don't use cookies. The game saves a few things in your own browser so it works properly: your name, sound setting and best practice times, and your room seat so a refresh puts you back in your game. You can remove them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
What's public
Your chosen name, crew, level, time, points and race date can appear on the public leaderboard and Top races pages, so don't use a name you want to keep private. The analytics page is also public, but it only shows totals such as visitors, races and players online.
Sharing
We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. The game runs on a server rented from Oracle Cloud, which stores the data on our behalf, and that server may be in a different country from you. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Daily visitor details (location, device, referrer, names and activity for that day): deleted after 90 days.
- Race results and names on them: kept for the leaderboards until you ask us to remove them.
- Visitor codes with their dates: kept to count all-time visitors.
- Level statistics and page counts: kept as totals that don't identify anyone.
Your choices
You can play under any name. You can email us to ask what we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, and we'll do our best to help. Depending on where you live, you may have further legal rights, including the right to object to how your data is used or to complain to a data protection authority. Because there are no accounts, please tell us the name you used and roughly when you played so we can find your records.
Security
The site uses HTTPS, and the detailed visitor page is protected by a private key. No online service can promise perfect security, so please don't type sensitive information as your name.
Children
The game is not designed to collect information about children. If you believe a child has entered personal details as a name, email us and we'll remove them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
